If you talk to a wandering minstrel/traveler and ask him about the one you are courting, he will tell you if she is betrothed to anyone and you can choose the option to hunt him down and duel him. I just did so and won back my secured position. hah, wow, just in the nick of time.

Im guessing characters die of old age around 50-60 I just wish they added an age slider so I could start at 18-20 because starting at 30 puts you closer to old age. Plus it doesnt make that much sense to start at age 30 and have basically no skills unless you were a farmer or something but most people don't pick that family start. #2.
That said i got married to the 3rd girl i tried, first chance 94% easy, 2nd chance 39% for critical win which give 2 point, took that and won it, she was mine. I only have 32 charm myself. You raise it by makeing people like you.
